How to find the folder with scanned documents on the computer

Scanning is a process that requires the utmost care and seriousness. But it is not enough just to scan the necessary text document or some important photograph, because you also need to save the finished result in the place where you can find it at any time. But some scanner users have to look for an answer to the question of how to find the scanned document on the computer.

A problem of this kind may be due to the fact that the scanning program was closed incorrectly for some reason. In addition, not all software applications have an automatic data saving function. Typically, in such cases, the software is opened to read the format of the scanned document.

If you come across one of these programs, then after the scanned text / photo is automatically opened, be sure to save it to any convenient place on your PC. To do this, press the key combination Ctrl + S, then decide on the folder where the image will be saved, and immediately give the name to the finished file.

If the file did not open, and the program was terminated incorrectly, then the image may have been saved in the My Documents folder or on the desktop. It is also possible that the scanned document was automatically saved in the folder with the scanning software installed. But the possibility is not excluded that the result did not survive at all.

In general, the easiest way to find out where the scanned text / photo is located is to start the scanning process again and at the same time look at the address where the system saved the finished result by default. Therefore, all those documents with which you worked earlier should be on the same path. Most likely, the place of their accumulation is some kind of service folder on the hard drive of your computer.

Another way to search for previously taken scans is to use the hard drive folder search.

  • To do this, in its parameters, you need to set the search for graphic files only.
  • To find possible options as quickly as possible, use the Total Commander program, where on the “Advanced” tab there should be a time interval – in the latter case, specify not older than one day or something like that.
  • But before that, first make all hidden files visible.

If your scan of the document was actually saved, then using this method you should definitely find it.

In addition, open the scanner settings – there probably is a path where all scans are saved by default. Usually the device creates a separate folder for this purpose. Quite often in Windows itself there is a folder called something like “scanned images”.

If none of the above methods helped you, then most likely your scan simply did not survive. In this case, it is better to take it and scan it again, rather than waste precious time searching for it again in all corners of your computer.
